Press Release – 42 Switzerland Expands Nationwide: Lausanne, Zurich and Geneva
Five years after the opening of 42 Lausanne, 42 Switzerland is taking a new step in its national expansion. The association is now expanding its presence in Switzerland with the opening of a second campus in Zurich and the development of the Digital Lab in Geneva, in partnership with the ForPro Foundation.
As 42 Lausanne welcomes 120 new students today for the start of the academic year, 42 Switzerland is taking a further step forward in its development. Five years after the opening of the Lausanne campus, the network is strengthening its national presence with the opening of 42 Zürich and the development of the Digital Lab in Geneva, in partnership with the ForPro Foundation.
With these three centres, 42 Switzerland is pursuing the same ambition: to make high-quality technology training accessible, to train the digital talent that businesses need here in Switzerland, and to strengthen the links between education, the economy and innovation.
This expansion comes at a time when IT professions are evolving rapidly, particularly driven by artificial intelligence and growing cybersecurity challenges. The 42 model, based on project-based learning, collaboration and autonomy, aims to develop not only technical skills but also the ability to learn, adapt and master new technologies.
Following the opening of the Lausanne centre in 2021, 42 Zürich will welcome between 100 and 150 new students from January 2027, making the model accessible in German-speaking Switzerland. In Geneva, the Digital Lab, developed in partnership with the ForPro Foundation, enables certain principles of the 42 teaching method to be extended to young people and apprentices supported by the foundation, whilst also providing a workspace for students from 42 Lausanne living in the region.
Through this nationwide expansion, 42 Switzerland is contributing to efforts to strengthen Switzerland’s digital sovereignty by helping to train local professionals capable of understanding, developing, securing and advancing the technologies on which the country’s businesses and institutions depend.
This mission also relies on close collaboration with businesses, through work placements, hackathons, innovation projects and skills development programmes, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital transformation.
